We are continually monitoring communications from Departments of Insurance for directives related to professional liability coverage and our insureds.
Below are the state-specific directives and resources available as of October 2, 2024.
FLORIDA
The Florida Office of Insurance Regulation has issued an emergency order 400385-24 directing all insurance companies to provide support to insureds in Florida.
To comply with the order and ensure that our insureds are protected during this difficult time, PICA is temporarily postponing all cancellations and non-renewals in Florida counties listed below until December 10, 2024. With regard to claims reporting or documentation, it is suggested any new claim be reported as soon as you are reasonably able to do so. Note that the Department may extend this moratorium beyond December 10, 2024.

NORTH CAROLINA
The North Carolina Department of Insurance has issued an emergency order Number 24-B-13 directing all insurance companies to provide support to insureds in North Carolina.
To comply with the order and ensure that our insureds are protected during this difficult time, PICA is temporarily postponing all cancellations and non-renewals in North Carolina counties listed below until November 29, 2024. With regard to claims reporting or documentation, it is suggested any new claim be reported as soon as you are reasonably able to do so. Note that the Department may extend this moratorium beyond November 29, 2024.

TENNESSEE
The Tennessee Department of Commerce & Insurance issued Bulletin 24-03 that will remain in effect through November 26, 2024 as a result of severe weather and flooding.
To comply with the order and ensure that our insureds are protected during this difficult time, PICA is temporarily postponing all cancellations and non-renewals in Tennessee until November 26, 2024. With regard to claims reporting or documentation, it is suggested any new claim be reported as soon as you are reasonably able to do so. Note that the Department may extend this moratorium beyond November 26, 2024.

GEORGIA
The Georgia Office of the Insurance and Safety Fire Commissioner issued Directive 24-EX-6 that will remain in effect until Oct. 31, 2024.
To comply with the order and ensure that our insureds are protected during this difficult time, PICA is temporarily postponing all cancellations and non-renewals in Georgia counties listed below until further notice. With regard to claims reporting or documentation, it is suggested any new claim be reported as soon as you are reasonably able to do so. Note that the Commissioner has not yet issued an end date for the moratorium.

The South Carolina Department of Insurance issued Bulletin 2024-12 that will remain in effect until further notice following Hurricane Helene. PICA will assist policyholders in the state with relief including but not limited to:
-Extension of Premium Deadlines
-Allowing additional time before nonrenewal(s) or cancellations become effective
- Providing extensions on proof of loss deadlines
-Waiving fees or penalties for failure to pay premiums timely
No end date has been indicated. PICA will provide accommodations to anyone directly affected by the storm if requested.
